Welcome to our new members and visitors Helen, Cat, Patty, Andrea and Donna. And thank you to current members who help make this an engaging and welcoming guild! Additionally, we send our appreciation to Chris for being on deck as BMQG Secretary, but is stepping away. Happily, Mary is stepping in and makes the following recap of Saturday’s meeting (and oh. so. much. more!) possible.
- 2025 is our 15th anniversary! Let’s celebrate. Watch for a variety of activities in 2025 to celebrate this milestone, including an event at Surel’s Place in Garden City. Based on show of hands at the meeting, here is what we’ll plan at Surel’s Place:
- An exhibit of mini quilts at a First Friday event, 5:30-8:30pm (date forthcoming)
- Potential theme for the quilts might be time/time pieces, and red/white color scheme
- Watch for more details in coming months, and thanks to Pam for organizing this!
- The Boise Basin Quilters annual quilt show is Sept. 27-28. Want to participate in our BMQ mini-quilt challenge? You’re invited to make a mini of just about anything you want! Here are the guidelines:
- maximum size 20“x 20”
- use solids or prints, any color combination you like
- make it round, uneven edges, triangle, or even square (ha)
- design your own or use a pattern
- quilts are due to Pam at the September 21 meeting; this is a hard deadline, after that day no additional submissions accepted
If you want to make something that can be used again at the Surel’s House event in 2025, make something with reds and whites to fit that exhibit theme. Thank you Pam for leading this effort! And, thank you to our members who signed up to help with the BBQ exhibit on Sept. 27-28.

- December 7: Annual meeting (no meeting in November)
Ongoing guild items:
- We’re practicing No Trace Left Behind at the swap and giveaway table. Feel free to bring extra patterns, fabric and other goodies to send to new homes; if your items are still on the table when you’re getting ready to leave, make sure to take them with you.
- We’ve hit pause on our Community Giving quilts. For now, bring only completed quilts or quilts that are ready for binding but otherwise complete. We have a back log of quilts needing quilted. Thank you to Anna for delivering quilts around town, and to those who have graciously provided this service and for continued help!
- Jeri is collecting zipper pouches and drawstring backpacks to fill with personal hygiene items. CATCH distributes these throughout the year, and things like cosmetics are a real boost to female clients. Jeri has a good supply of shampoos and such, and if you want to add to the supply of new lipsticks or other cosmetics, bring those to the September 21 meeting.
