We learned all about angled improvisational quilting at August Sew Day. Tracy Clark graciously shared her improv expertise. Thanks for sharing your passion, Tracy!

Join Us for August 2015 Sew Day

When: Saturday, August 22, 1 pm – 4 pm
Where: Boise Public Library, 715 S Capitol Blvd, Boise, ID (Marion Bingham Room on 3rd floor)

This month Tracy Clark will show us how to do angled improv. When complete, participants will have a 12”x30” piece like the one pictured below. If you wish to participate, please see this Angled Improv Block list for the amount of fabric and tools you will need to bring.

Angled Improv

As always, please bring your completed projects and your BOM to share with the group. Don’t forget those mini-quilts if you completed yours last month. We would love to see it!

If you have them, it’s always a good idea to bring a power strip and/or small extension cord as well.

Not familiar with how our meetings work? We typically follow this format:

  • Quick announcements
  • Show and share
  • Sewing on individual projects, and of course conversation (or tutorial/presentation if one is scheduled)

Learning about quilt bindings

We had a great meeting in July! The highlight of the meeting was Carol Mitchell sharing different binding techniques with the group. We learned about double and single fold bindings, basing your binding width on the size of your quilt (who knew?) and many other tips.

We also had several members share completed projects. Check out the photos below.
