Our next BMQG features a mini trunk show and chat with Boise MQG founding member Angela Bowman. Angela is the powerhouse behind Sewfinity. Her work has appeared at QuiltCon, International Quilt Festival, and the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, and she’s been been featured in various print publications, including Modern Quilts: Designs of the New Century, Modern Patchwork Home, Quiltfolk, Simply Moderne, and Country Living magazine. Wow! All of that from a native of Filer, Idaho. We’re so proud. Come see some of Angela’s creations, hear about the behind-the-scenes at Sewfinity, and get a little background on how BMQG started 15 years ago.
When: Saturday, September 20, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Where: Boise First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2201 Woodlawn Ave., Boise
Other items on our agenda:
- Turn in challenge/exhibit quilts: Bring your quilts with label & claim check attached (form attached to this email) to the Sept. 20 meeting; after that day no additional submissions are accepted. Members, if you can’t make it to the meeting, check your email for how to connect with Cheryl or Pam in advance of the Sept. 20 cut-off. The Boise Basin Quilters quilt show is Sept. 26-27.
- New community giving process: Beginning with the September meeting, there will be a new process for collecting quilts. Each month or so, a recipient organization will be selected using the list of organizations we’ve been donating to. Our thanks to Rachel and Debbie M. for collecting and delivering each month’s contributions. Also, more labels on the way!
-
- September: Bring your quilts to donate to Cascade Life Alliance. They prefer lap size quilts for mostly males as they have little need for floral/children’s designs.
- October: Quilts will go to the Agency for New Americans. They prefer twin or full size quilts and sometimes queen.
- November: Quilts will go to New Path Community Housing. They’re grateful to receive any size quilt.
- Rachel and Debbie are happy to receive ANY size quilts at any of the meetings to be saved for a better fit with an organization. Please note, bring your quilts fully finished (quilted and bound).
