October 18 is Nametag Palooza with Cheryl!

Our next BMQG meeting features Nametag Palooza with Cheryl! Check out the myriad of quilted nametags here, and come get inspo for making your own. We’ll have time after the meeting to create and sew.

When: Saturday, October 18, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. / with option for after-meeting sew time until 3 p.m.
Where: Boise First United Church of Christ, 2201 Woodlawn Ave., Boise
Parking: There’s plenty of parking available in the church parking lot, in a lot across the street, and on-street parking around the church. Please enter using the main entrance; avoid the temptation to make a shortcut through the back door near garbage bins — as that will set off alarms.

Nametag Palooza & Optional Mini Sew
Once the meeting adjourns, we’ll take a break and then get to sewing nametags until 3 p.m.  If you’re staying to sew, plan to be part of the set up and tear down crew. We’ll need your help to move tables and arrange power strips, and then tidy the room when we wrap up at 3 p.m. We’ll provide power strips and small batting squares for nametag making, and set up an ironing station. You bring whatever else you need: fusible interface, fabric scraps, cutting supplies, rulers, task light, and all the rest.

Quilt Show Rundown
Did you have a quilt show entry (maybe a ribbon?)? Bring it to share and feel free to brag on yourself!
Thanks to Cheryl for organizing the small group challenge entries! If you were part of the challenge, Pam will bring mini quilts for you to pick up at the meeting. And thanks to Karen and the others who participated in a short talk with show and tell about modern quilting at the Quilt Show.

We’re on the Boise Basin Quilters schedule for August 20, 2026 evening meeting for an expanded version of this presentation and trunk show. Granted, it’s a long way in the future, but we hope you’ll come to show your modern works! Stay tuned for details.

Community Giving
At the October meeting, bring quilts to give to the Agency for New Americans. They prefer twin or full size quilts (queen size if you can swing it). Thank you Rachel and Debbie M. for delivering quilts! In November we’ll collect quilts for New Path Community Housing. They’re grateful to receive any size quilt. Rachel and Debbie are happy to receive ANY size quilts at any of the meetings to be saved for a better fit with an organization. Please note, bring your quilts fully finished (quilted and bound).

Board Updates
Our board is proposing a new board configuration — with just three officers in a shared leadership role (see attached graphic); this departs from our existing structure of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. The reason for the change is simply because no one has come forward to serve as President. The new structure would help spread out the workload of guild operations, while complying with IRS and MQG requirements of having three unrelated officers on the board. The proposal would require a change in bylaws; stay tuned for more on bylaws updates. We will vote on bylaw amendments and a new slate of officers at our  Nov. 15 Annual Meeting. A big thanks to Cheryl and Kathy who plan to continue as officers, and to Carol J. who plans to join the 2026 board.

And of course, we’ll have time for the all-important show and tell! Hope to see you there.P.S. David Owen-Hastings will join us by Zoom at our Nov. 15 annual meeting! David is an internationally-known modern quilter who’s taught at QuiltCon, Sisters, and at quilt guilds all over the U.S. “Minimal Design, Maximum Impact“ is a lecture you won’t want to miss!
