- Member Survey: Help shape the future of BMQG! Have an idea or suggestion? Want to give a high-five to the board? Members, watch your email for the link and share your feedback by November 10. It will help the board in its planning for 2025 and beyond. Responses can remain anonymous, and it takes only about 5-10 minutes.
- Community Giving: As a reminder, we’re hitting pause on collecting community giving quilts. A small number of members have generously been quilting our donated tops and we’re giving them a breather. A very big thanks to the longarmers who have done the bulk of our quilting in the past couple of years, and to Anna for delivering them. We’re still accepting zipper pouches and backpacks, along with personal hygiene items and cosmetics. These are faithfully delivered by Jeri to shelters around town, and she recently delivered 33 to both men and women! Thank you Jeri and Anna!
- Give Your Scraps: Our friends at the Cole & Ustick Library are organizing a community weaving project as part of an event on December 19 (6:00 - 7:30 p.m.) to mark winter solstice. They’re collecting all manner of textiles to use for the project — fabric scraps and strips, ribbon, bits of yarn and such in a variety of colors, widths, and textures. It’s a good chance to empty out the tiny scrap bin or get rid of stuff you don't want! Drop off your scraps by December 17 to Mindy at the Cole & Ustick Library.
- Jo Avery December 7: It’s almost time for our annual meeting, December 7 at the Hillcrest Library (note, no meeting in November). We’ll take care of required business, and then Jo Avery will join us by Zoom for an Aurifilisophy Thread Talk. Based in the UK, Jo manages to straddle both modern and traditional quilting. Her natural affinity with color and detail informs all her quilts as well as a love of intricate techniques such as needle-turn applique and embroidery. In any free moments, Jo stitches, embroiders, crochets shawls, knits socks, eats liquorice, listens to the Archers, and dreams of the day when she can take delivery of her longed for miniature donkeys!
