Color! with Charles Cameron June 8

We’re so excited to welcome Charles Cameron to Boise in June.  Join us at JUMP in downtown Boise for this exciting program! Our thanks and appreciation to JUMP for providing workshop and meeting space as part of their Jump it Forward Program.

Charles’ presentation is underwritten by a generous gift from local benefactor Beverly Williams. Thank you for supporting Boise MQG!

PUBLIC LECTURE
Saturday, June 8 • 10:30 a.m.— 1 p.m.
Color! An engineer’s guide to color value & placement in quilts
Join us for an engaging conversation with Charles, an engineer by training who is very methodical about color selection. We’ll briefly discuss color theory basics, and then look at lots of examples to see how colors enhance the overall effect and design. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced quilter, you’ll find ways to become more adventurous with color, and get tips for when you’re stumped deciding on color scheme.

  • Cost: FREE for Boise MQG members / $10 for non-members (cash or check only at the door)
  • Members, please note: this meeting will replace our regularly scheduled meeting
  • Parking is available at the public parking garage adjacent to JUMP (parking fees apply; first hour is free). Check out this quick and fun video first — and whatever your parking plan, please allow a little extra time.

Charles is also teaching a one-day workshop Crooked Crosses & Bent Boxes: An introduction to semi-improv quilt design. Thank you to everyone who signed up! The workshop is full.

About Charles
Charles is an engineer by training and vocation and tends toward creative endeavors to maintain balance. His two young daughters are his creative inspiration. Their playful experimentation and approach toward learning has helped him realize that not knowing how to do something can be a powerful enabler toward creating something extraordinary. Exploring the use of bright colors and color value placement to enhance more traditional quilt patterns and quilt block design is a hallmark of Charles’ work. He’s not afraid to bend what should be a straight line.

His quilts have been published in Curated Quilts, a quarterly journal of and for modern quilters, and have been juried into QuiltCon, the world’s largest modern quilt show, presented by The Modern Quilt Guild. His “Sudoku” quilt was awarded first place in the Small Quilts Category at QuiltCon2022. In addition, Charles has written and published quilt patterns of his own design, delivered guild lectures, trunk shows and workshops across the country.
