Color theory, or the scientific reasoning behind color mixing and the visual effects of specific color combination, can be a great asset to modern quilters. During one of the 2013 Sew Days we explored color theory and discussed its use in quilting.

Mary Mashuta, in her book “Confetti Quilts,” talks about using the pale neutrals in shades of mustardy beige, tans, taupey white, to make dull colors sing. I incorporate her ideas to help give life to colors. I love breaking color rules, and the idea that clashing colors are modern. yay!
