July 2018 Sew Day – Join Us

When: Saturday, July 28, 1 pm – 4 pm
Where: Library at Bown Crossing, 2153 E. Riverwalk Dr.*

**Note different location! You may want to bring handwork

This month we will be working on individual projects so bring your sewing/quilting projects to work on. You may want to bring handwork, as the room we are using at the library is a bit smaller than we are used to.

As always, please bring your completed modern projects to share with the group.

If you have them, it’s always a good idea to bring a power strip and/or small extension cord as well.

  • This will be a “no-host” retreat, meaning that everyone must bring their own projects to work on, sewing machines and necessary tools. We may plan a fun sewing related activity, but more on that later.
  • We will bring some extension/power cords, but you may want to bring your own just in case.

Accommodations:

  • Cabins with bunk beds – each cabin sleeps up to twelve people
  • Each cabin has a bathroom.
  • Please bring your own bedding (sleeping bag, foam pad, pillows, twin sheet, etc.), towels and toiletries, as well as any recreational gear. There will be hiking, swimming in Alturas Lake, etc. available if you want to enjoy the great outdoors.

A few things to note:

  • We may be sharing the camp with another group, but other than at meal times, we should be to ourselves.
  • It is Luther Height Bible Camp’s regular practice to have Christian grace before all meals.
  • The Boise Modern Quilt Guild will not be arranging transportation. Please feel free to make carpool arrangements amongst yourselves.
  • While adult beverages are allowed, the camp asks that all “exercise great discretion and prudence in this regard.”
  • You may bring your own snacks/food.
  • Sorry, no pets.

If this sounds too good to miss, sign up by June 10 by filling out this form. You may choose to mail us a check or pay via PayPal.

Thank you Boise MQG members!

Over the past few months our members have been working on quilts for the Boise refugee community. Members that wanted to participate were given a bundle of fat quarters that were donated by Massdrop and coordinating solid fabric to create their quilt(s). So far members have donated 13 quilts! We will be donating the quilts in June and a few more quilts are on the way, but we were so excited by our member’s generosity that we just had to share a photo of all the quilts now. If you look at the previous post you can see some of the quilts in full.

Members that donated these great quilts include: Nancy England, Fay Hikida, Angela Bowman, Karen Falvey, Teresa Church, Carol Mitchell and Christy Foltz-Ahlrichs
