When: Saturday, July 25, 1 pm – 4 pm
Where: Boise Public Library, 715 S Capitol Blvd, Boise, ID (Marion Bingham Room on 3rd floor)

If you are participating in the mini quilt project, this is the month we are binding our projects. Keeping with our theme, Carol Mitchell will show us different binding techniques for our quilts. All are welcome to participate even if you aren’t making a mini quilt. You can look into getting a quilt made of custom t-shirts if you want to have one but are not participating. However, if you want to try the techniques as Carol talks about them, please bring the following:

  • Fabric for binding your mini quilt (if you don’t have a mini quilt, just bring something to practice on) – between 2 1/2″ and 3″ wide depending on if you want a standard binding or facing.
  • If you want a pillowcase backing/binding, please bring the size of your quilt width x the length of quilt plus 4″ (In other words you will need 4″ longer than your quilt length).

If you haven’t started a mini yet, it’s not too late – check out the Pinterest board with Mini Quilt inspiration to help you find some great ideas. Check it out here.

As always, please bring your completed projects and your BOM to share with the group.

If you have them, it’s always a good idea to bring a power strip and/or small extension cord as well.

Not familiar with how our meetings work? We typically follow this format:

  • Quick announcements
  • Show and share
  • Sewing on individual projects, and of course conversation (or tutorial/presentation if one is scheduled)

One more thing:
If you are interested in participating in the 2015 Boise Basin Quilt (BBQ) Show, Bloom & Sew, forms are due to BBQ by their August 20th meeting. Category 1700 covers modern quilts! All the information, including category descriptions, rules and entry forms can be found on their website Quilt Show pages https://www.boisebasinquilters.org/quilt-show/entries/.
