When: Saturday, April 25, 1 pm – 4 pm
Where: Victory Branch Library, 10664 W Victory Rd, Boise, ID (Forrey Room downstairs) at the corner of Victory and Five Mile – Please note that this is a different location than where we normally meet (only for this month).

During our April Sew Day Christy and Lori will lead everyone in an Improv Round Robin. Based on the improv class they took by Sherri Lynn Wood (who tentatively has Boise on her list of stops for promoting her new book Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters – yahoo!), it’s a fun way to try improv for the first time or practice your improv skills.

How it works – the basic idea is to pass around an improv piece you have started in class along with your container of scraps. Each person will use your scraps to add to your improv piece and will also add a piece of their “signature” fabric. By the end of class you will have worked on everyone’s piece a few times and each person will end up with something completely unique!

Please bring the following if you would like to participate:

  • Variety of fabric scraps (ranging from small to largeish)
  • A basket or box (i.e. shoe box, etc.) sturdy enough to pass around and large enough for your scraps
  • About a 1/2 yard or so of “signature” fabric
  • Rotary cutter and mat – leave the ruler at home!
  • Sewing machine and accessories

As always, please bring your completed projects and your BOM to share with the group.

If you have them, it’s always a good idea to bring a power strip and/or small extension cord as well.

Not familiar with how our meetings work? We typically follow this format:

  • Quick announcements
  • Show and share
  • Sewing on individual projects, and of course conversation (or tutorial/presentation if one is scheduled)
